Interpolation and smoothing

Has anyone done SGT-related work with triangulation and smoothing to
turn a set of irregularly-placed measurements into a contour map?  I'm
thinking in terms of Deleunay triangulation, TIN, splines and other
ways to make a nice-looking visualization. It does not appear to be a
standard part of SGT, and the only other places I've found it has been
in heavy-duty GIS systems that make a lot of assumptions about data
formats. If it isn't readily available, I'll do it myself, but I'd
rather not reimplement too many wheels.
