If you are an SDR user, then this web
page will tell you how to administer your own account. If you
are an SDR System Administrator, see the SDR
System Administrators web page.
Administering your own user account
You may change your password or the permissions
of your home folder by pointing your Web browser to the SDR
administrative page. Your SDR administrator can give you the
address of this page, but in general it is on a port two numbers
higher than the SDR server port. For example, if your slide
server is at https://www.example.com:8080 then the administrative
page is at https://www.example.com:8082.
Once you log in, you will see the user administration page:
If you wish to change your password, enter a new password in
the Password and Confirm password
fields. If you want to change the permissions,
click on the permission check boxes to select the new value(s).
You can reset all fields to their original values by clicking
on the Reset button. When you are done, click
on the Save button. If the SDR detects any
errors in your new settings, the page will be redisplayed with
the error messages highlighted in red. If no errors are displayed,
the page will be redisplayed with no error messages. Finally,
you can log out by clicking on the Logout button.
(See SDR Concepts for definitions)
Using the SDR
Links for the one-time setup process are available
below. Once that setup is completed, you are ready to use the
SDR. You will need to know the URL of your SDR, your username
and your password, which will be provided to you by your SDR
system administrator.
You may now store and retrieve files from your personal folder
(in the users folder) or any group folders that your system
administrator has configured for you. You can use your desktop
tools, such as MyComputer on a Windows PC. Instructions for
changing your password or establishing permissions for your
directory folders are given above.
To access the SDR from a Web Browser, point the browser to
the URL. If the server is located at www.example.com and is
running on port 8080, then the address would be https://www.example.com:8080:
When you log in, your files will be available to you through
the web browser.
