User Interface Cut Panel Selection: These buttons are used to show or hide the the six different cutpanel views offered by NdEdit. Currently, NdEdit allows the following views of your data set:

Zoom and Selection Tools:

Zoom Tool : The zoom tools allow you to zoom the cut panels plots in or out. In essence this means changing the ranges of the plot axes to encompass a wider or narrower range. You can use the zoom tool in two ways; you can drag a zoom region around a particular region of a cut panel or click the mouse at a location you would like to zoom into. To zoom out, press the Alt (Meta or Option) key and click the mouse. |

Rectangle Tool: Used to select stations in a rectangular area. Click and drag the mouse to define a selection reactangle. When you release the mouse, all the stations that fall in the area will be selected. Note: When selecting in cut panels with either time or distance axes, a station will be selected only if the end or start time or the minimum or maximum depth points are in the selection rectangle. Hold the shift key down to add the current selection to any previously selected stations. You can also use this tool to select individual stations by single clicking on the cut panel. Use the shift key to select a grouop of stations individually. |

Polygon Tool:Used to select stations in an irregular area. To start a selection polygon, click the mouse and drag out the first segment then click again to end the segment and start a new segment. Double click to end your polygon. Note if you leave the polygon open, there will be an implied segment from your last point to the starting point. When you release the mouse, all the stations that fall in the polygon area will be selected. Note: When selecting in cut panels with either time or distance axes, a station will be selected only if the end or start time or the minimum or maximum depth are in the selection polygon. Hold the shift key down to add the current selection to any previously selected stations. |

Section Tool: Used to select stations within a certain geographic distance along a line. By using multiple segments, you can create section lines that follow features of the cut panel such as a coastline or isobath. To start a section line, click the mouse and drag out the first segment then click again to end the segment and start a new segment. Double click to end your section line. Hold the shift key down to add the current selection to any previously selected stations. To change the width of your section, enter a new value (in kilometers in the Width text field and press the tab or return keys. Note: the section width is calibrated for panels that contain latitude as an axis. For example, uou can use the tool in the time/depth cut panel but the section width will have no meaning. |
| Cursor Location: These fields show the current coordinates (in latiude, longitude, depth, and time) of the mouse pointer when in the plot area of the cut panels. |
