Line Profile Plot Panel (upper panel)
The Line Profile Plot is the container for displaying and manipulating profile plots and user icons. Some manipulations
require the user to own the Master Key, an exclusive key held by only one collaborator at a time, requested by
clicking
. Ownership of the MasterKey
is indicated when the "Request Master" button has changed to
.
Listed below are user actions which affect the Line Profile Plot:
- Actions that don't require the MasterKey:
- Adding data: clicking on the "Get profile from network" button
, or the "Get profile from local file" button
, or selecting "Network ..." or "Open
..." from the "File" menu will step the user through a profile data selection sequence
resulting in the display of a profile in the Line Profile Plot Panel.
- Adding a User Icon: clicking
displays a tagged pointer icon, with the user's name, in the Line Profile Plot Panel. The user may drag and drop
his own pointer, but cannot move a collaborators pointer, which may also be displayed simultaneously in the Plot
Panel.
- Re-centering icons: selecting "Re-center icons" from the Edit menu is useful when a
zoom action causes the pointer and value icons to fall outside the displayable area. This action brings the icons
back into the clipped area, making them accessible again.
- Actions requiring the MasterKey:
- Adding or dragging the Value Icon: clicking
displays the value pointer, a crosshair icon, which can be dragged and dropped and displays the current
positional value. Toggling
removes the value icon from the Plot Panel.
- Zooming: Shift-left-mouse-drag-release will create a visible zoom box which rescales the Plot
Panel.
- Unzooming: Ctrl-left-mouse-click will unzoom, restoring the Plot Panel to its original scaling.
- Changing Profile Attributes: right-mouse-clicking the label of a profile in the Key Pane, or
legend area, (described below), pops up a context-sensitive menu with options for changing attributes of a profile.
The profile can be highlighted, changed to marks (displaying in-situ data points), or drawn as a solid line (extrapolated).
- Selecting "Clear profiles" from the Edit menu, or from the context-sensitive Plot Panel menu
(right-mouse-clicking in Plot Panel) will clear the profiles.

KeyPane Popup Menu
A context-sensitive popup menu is displayed when right-mouse-clicking on a label in the keypane.
- Clicking one of the radio-button menu items ("Highlight Line", "Solid Line",
or "Plot Marks") changes the attribute of the target profile in the Line Profile Plot Panel.
- Clicking the "Properties" menu item displays a Data Properties Window (described below).
- Clicking the "Erase Line" menu item will remove the profile from the Plot Panel.
