CDP Tutorial
Step #3: Select Data Files from the Dataset

The Data Items wizard panel allows you to select individual files from a dataset. The Data Items panel will display the dataset as a scrolling list of files or using the multiple-dimension browser NdEdit in a separate window. First let's look at the list view:

From the list, you can select all or some subset of the files from the selected dataset. The following mouse techniques can be used to select multiple data items:

  1. Single click: select one data item
  2. Shift click: Extend the current slection to include all the data items between the current item and the last selected item
  3. Control click: Select discontiguous data items by clicking on multiple list items

The graphical view of data items will be automatically shown if the number of data items is greater than 10 (this value can be changed in the CDP Preferences). If the list view is displayed, you can always view the graphical browser by clicking the Graphical View button:

NdEdit shows the selected data items in both a map view and latitude-time view. NdEdit is described in detail in its own tutorial. In this case, I have used the rectangle selection tool to select one of the equatorial stations (shown in blue). After closing NdEdit and clicking the Next button you will see the Variable wizard panel.
