Step #2: Select Datasets

Click the Next button to apply your criteria to the directory of datasets. Matching datasets will be displayed in the next panel:

 

The list shows all the datasets that met the criteria you specified in the directory search panel. You can click on the column headers sort the list by dataset name, organization, dataset type. or item count. You can also resize the columns by dragging the column divider lines.

Setting a Dataset-Specific Selection Region: To further refine your search, you can define a selection region in space and time for just the selected dataset. After you have selected a dataset, click on the Set Selection Region button:

This will display a dialog that allows to specify a map region and a time range to restrict files in the dataset to. Note that the map panel shows the geographic range of the selected dataset. You can define a new location by dragging a new selection region in the map panel or entering latitude-longitude values in the text fields. To change the time range, drag the colored handles on the time line or type in new date/time in the fields provided.

Getting information on the Selected Dataset: Click the information icon to display a list of properties for the selected dataset:

 

World Map plot of Station Locations: Click Plot Stations to plot the station locations of the selected dataset on a map. The map will open into its own window:

 

Click Next to go on to the next step to find the actual files you want from the selected dataset.
