Introduction

The Climate Data Portal (CDP) client software allows you to browse, search, and select climate and oceanographic data from a diverse and growing list of data archives on the internet. The purpose of this document is to define the terminology and demonstrate the features and operation of the CDP client. CDP client is designed with a "wizard" type of interface. Wizards allow you to interact with an application by progressing through a sequence of ordered steps or tasks. Each step in the wizard is shown by a specific user interface display called a panel. Typically, there are also buttons that allow you to go to the next step or back to previous steps. In the CDP client, the wizard steps you through selecting data servers, datasets available on a server, variable selection, and finally to a plot of the selected data or exporting the data to be used by other analysis tools.
